Recording Session

  • Sacred Heart Catholic Church

We will record:

O Savior Thou Who Wearest
A Mighty Fortress
O sacrum convivium

O Savior Lyrics/Breakdown:

Organ Intro

(Solo)
1. O Savior, thou who wearest a crown of piercing thorn,
The pain thou meekly bearest, weigh'd down by grief and scorn.
The soldiers mock and flail thee; For drink they give thee gall;"
Upon the cross they nail thee To die, O King of all.

(Men Unison on Melody)
2. No creature is so lowly, no sinner so depraved,
But feels thy presence holy and thru thy love is saved.
Tho craven friends betray thee, they feel thy love's embrace;
The very foes who slay thee have access to thy grace.

(SATB a capella)
3. Now from Thy cheeks has vanished their color, once so fair;
From Thy red lips is banished the splendor that was there.
How art thou pale with anguish, with sore abuse and scorn!
How doth Thy visage languish that once was bright as morn!

Organ Interlude

(Unison)
4. My Savior, be Thou near me when death is at my door;
Then let Thy presence cheer me, forsake me nevermore!
When soul and body languish, oh, leave me not alone,
But take away mine anguish by virtue of Thine own! (deceptive cadence)

Organ Interlude

(SATB)
Lord, take away mine anguish (SLOW) by virtue of Thine own!
